Day one
Show pricing on, the catalogue on three iPads, and the first order for delivery taken before the hall has filled up.
Trade shows & events
At a design fair the stand takes real orders for delivery, on hall Wi-Fi that comes and goes. Staff sell from the same catalogue as the showroom and the website, with show pricing switched on for the week, and every order is already in Magento when the team gets home.
Why it matters
The stand takes paid orders for delivery from the full catalogue. The fair pays for itself in the hall, not three months later.
A Magento cart price rule scoped to the event dates, applied on the stand and nowhere else, switched off when the doors close.
Offline first. Orders queue on the device and sync on any connection, including a phone hotspot at the end of the day.
Device keys for the show team, revoked the day after. Permissions from Magento roles mean no one on the stand can do what they should not.
How it works
A store view for the event, show pricing as a cart price rule with dates, and device keys issued to the stand iPads from the POS Admin portal.
The same products, images and stock as the showroom and website. Orders are for delivery, with the customer created on the spot for the website too.
Card readers on the stand, pay-by-link for the buyer who wants to pay from the office, or Net terms for trade accounts.
Orders sync when there is signal, keys are revoked after the show, and fulfilment runs from the warehouse queue on Monday.
Ways merchants use it
Brands that exhibit: furniture and lighting, fashion and accessories, food and drink, sports and outdoor, anything with a trade fair calendar.

Show pricing on, the catalogue on three iPads, and the first order for delivery taken before the hall has filled up.

A boxed sample sold cash-and-carry on the stand reader, plus a trade order for forty units on account, both on the same Magento customer.

Hall Wi-Fi died at four. The last orders sync over a phone hotspot while the flight cases close, and the keys are revoked from the train.
