Inventory & stock

Every source, every store, one stock count you can act on.

A ski retailer runs three stores, a warehouse and a website on one Magento. From the stockroom the team sees salable quantity per source, transfers boots from one store to another with per-item accept and reject, prints the transfer label, and returns go back to the source they came from. The website sells what is actually there.

Why it matters

What changes for the business.

Sell the pair that is elsewhere

A size that is out here and in stock across town is a sale, not a shrug. Staff see every source from the product screen.

One count for web and store

Because the till works on Magento inventory sources, the website and the shops draw from the same numbers. No overselling on Saturday.

Transfers without a spreadsheet

Scan, send, accept item by item, print the label. The transfer report shows what moved, when, and who accepted it.

Returns land in the right place

A return goes back to a chosen source and the credit memo records it, so the count stays true after the refund.

How it works

Step by step, from the first switch-on.

  1. 1

    Magento MSI, natively

Salable quantity per source, a default source per device or store view, and a stock popup on the product screen that shows what every other store and the warehouse has.

  2. 2

    Create the transfer by scanning

Full or partial transfers between sources from the till, a Zebra label printed for the box, and the transfer visible in Magento as soon as it is created.

  3. 3

Accept it at the other end

The receiving store accepts or rejects item by item, so a box that arrives one pair short is recorded as one pair short, not waved through.

  4. 4

    Adjust and notify with permission

The Inventory screen searches or scans a product and adjusts quantities, decimals included, and a customer can be signed up for a back-in-stock alert from the same place.

Ways merchants use it

One pair of boots, three stops.

Multi-store retailers on Magento 2.4 with MSI, anyone moving stock between a warehouse and shops, and merchants who have been counting with a clipboard.

The staff member scanning boxed boots in the stockroom

The stockroom

The transfer is built by scanning boxes onto the trolley. Twelve pairs, one label, and Store 2 can already see it coming.

The same staff member unloading boxed boots from a van at another store

The back door across town

The van arrives and the boxes are accepted one by one against the transfer. Eleven match; one is rejected and stays on the sending store's count.

The same staff member with a customer at the boot wall

The customer asking for a 43

Out on the floor, the stock popup shows the 43 is at the warehouse. It is sold for delivery on the spot, from the source that actually has it.

Questions

What merchants ask before they turn it on.

Which Magento versions have this?

Multi-source inventory needs Magento 2.3 or later with MSI enabled. Single-source stores get real-time stock from the default source.

Can staff adjust stock on the device?

Yes, with permission. The Inventory screen searches or scans a product and adjusts quantities, including decimal quantities for goods sold by length or weight.

Can a customer ask to be told when something is back?

Yes. The till can sign a customer up for a back-in-stock notification for a product.

Is there a report of transfers?

Yes. A transfer report lists every transfer with its items, its status and who accepted or rejected each line.

Does the website see store stock?

Yes, because it is the same Magento inventory. What the till sells or transfers is what the website can sell, source by source.

See it on your own catalogue.

A demo takes half an hour and uses your products, your stores and your permissions, not ours.
