B2B & trade counter

Account customers, served like account customers.

An electrician at a wholesaler's counter does not pay cash. He is priced from his Magento customer group, the order goes on his Net 30 account with a purchase-order comment, and the invoice follows. The next customer splits the bill between a card and store credit. Same till, same Magento order.

Why it matters

What changes for the business.

The right price, first time

Customer groups, tier prices and cart rules come from Magento, so the trade price is on the screen before anyone asks for it.

Terms without a paper ledger

Net 10 to Net 60, layaway with deposits and store credit are tenders like any other, and each can invoice, ship and open the drawer as you configure.

Quotes that turn into orders

Print a quote at the counter, hold it locally or in the cloud, and resume it on any device when the customer comes back.

Know who sold what

Sales attribution puts the salesperson on the order and the receipt, for commission and for reports.

How it works

Step by step, from the first switch-on.

  1. 1

    Find the account

The customer is looked up by name, email, phone or card, and their Magento group, addresses, order history and terms come with them.

  2. 2

    Pricing follows the group

Tier prices, customer-group prices, cart price rules and coupons apply on the till exactly as online. A permissioned override or a discount with a reason is there when someone needs one.

  3. 3

Tender on terms, or split it

Net terms, layaway, store credit, gift card, loyalty and card can be combined on one sale. A purchase-order reference goes on the order as a comment.

  4. 4

    Invoice and paperwork, as configured

Each tender decides in the Magento admin whether it creates the invoice, creates the shipment and opens the drawer. The quote, the receipt and the invoice print from the till.

Ways merchants use it

One trade counter, one month.

Wholesalers, builders' and electrical merchants, timber and stone yards, and any retailer with account customers who buy on terms.

The morning order

Cable, fittings, trade price, Net 30, the PO number typed as a comment. Two minutes, and the van is loaded.

The quote that came back

Last week's printed quote for a rewire is pulled up from the cloud, adjusted for two extra reels and converted into an order on the same account.

Month end at the counter

Account statements go out from Magento, where every counter order already sits with its invoice, its PO reference and the name of who sold it.

Questions

What merchants ask before they turn it on.

Do account orders create invoices?

That is set per payment method in the Magento admin: each tender can create the invoice, create the shipment and open the drawer, or not.

Can the same customer pay two ways?

Yes. Split payments work across any enabled tenders, including loyalty, gift card and store credit combinations.

Can a salesperson be recorded on the order?

Yes. Sales attribution puts the salesperson on the order and the receipt, for commission and for reports.

Can I limit who gives discounts?

Yes. Price overrides, discounts and removing tax are Magento admin role permissions, and a discount can require a reason.

Where do quotes live?

Held locally on the device or sent to the cloud, tagged so any till can find and resume them. A printed quote can be handed over at the counter.
