The whiteboard
Three circles: first-timers, regulars, lapsed. Each maps to segments the extension already maintains from Magento orders, and each gets its own journey.
Segments & tags
A dog-nutrition brand lives on repeat orders. Every customer arrives in Mailchimp with a recency, frequency and monetary score built from their Magento orders, a segment such as Champion or At Risk, category tags like cat:dogs/dry-food, and merge fields for their first and latest order. A win-back journey starts from the At Risk segment on its own, and the first-purchase welcome never goes to a customer on their sixth bag.

Why it matters
The score is computed from real orders and refreshed nightly, not from a form somebody filled in. A win-back goes to people who actually stopped buying.
Merge fields such as order count and latest product update as orders sync. Nobody builds a CSV of "customers who bought twice" again.
Your best customers can get the early access, the referral ask, the thank-you, and never the discount they did not need.
Automatic cat: tags name the category paths a contact has bought from, so a campaign for running shoes goes to people who buy running shoes.
How it works
Every customer, subscriber and order flows to the mapped audience, with unsubscribes honoured in both directions.
Each customer gets a recency, frequency and monetary score and one of ten segments: Champion, Loyal, Potential Loyalist, New, Promising, Needs Attention, About to Sleep, At Risk, Hibernating or Lost. The segment is written to a merge field, category affinity to tags.
In Mailchimp, a segment rule such as RFM_SEG is At Risk or ORDERCOUNT greater than 3 drives the journey. First order, sixth order and lapsed customers each get their own path.
Orders placed after a campaign sync back, so Mailchimp reports revenue per campaign and per automation.
Ways merchants use it
Replenishment and subscription-style brands, anyone with a loyal core and a long tail, and marketers who want to stop exporting lists.

Three circles: first-timers, regulars, lapsed. Each maps to segments the extension already maintains from Magento orders, and each gets its own journey.

A customer who used to order monthly went quiet for ninety days. The At Risk journey sends a note; the next bag ships that week.

The top segment gets early access to the new recipe and a handwritten-style thank-you. No discount, because they were never waiting for one.

Questions
The extension scores every customer from Magento order history and writes the segment, order count, first and latest order details and category tags to the contact. Segments and journeys that use them are built in Mailchimp.
Yes. Merge fields and tags update as orders sync, and the recency, frequency and value score is refreshed nightly.
Order count, first and latest order dates and totals, the highest-value product, SKU and category of the first and latest order, who the latest order shipped to and whether it was for themselves, and the segment. New Mailchimp merge fields can be mapped from the Magento admin.
Both ways. Someone who unsubscribes in Mailchimp is unsubscribed in Magento, and someone who opts out in Magento is updated in Mailchimp.
The extension is free. Automations and some segmentation features depend on your Mailchimp plan.
